Beautiful Hotel, olde World charm. Delightful owners who couldn't do enough to ensure I was comfortable. Greeted by Tilly the adorable Poodle, and a gorgeous roaring fire in the sumptuously decorated reception, perfect for a crisp October evening arrival. The room I stayed in (7) was a large, beautifully decorated traditionally styled, and immaculately clean with the added bonus of a bath. Lovely comfortable bed with a plentifully stocked hospitality tray. I had two great nights sleep. The history of the Hotel is fascinating too, with lovely grounds worth exploring in the summer! Literally just off the M74 so very useful for transport links. No restaurant as such - it has been converted to a delightful antique store..but lovely breakfasts available, freshly prepared in the morning and a well stocked bar for an evening tipple before you retire. I thought it was quaint, elegant and gorgeous, harking back to a more gentile time, I'm looking forward to returning soon.

Amazing place literally adjacent to motorway, with slight feeling of faded glory, stuffed with quirky artefacts & relics ( amongst a bit of junk & clutter.) bedroom felt clean & comfortable with supremely comfortable beds, bathtub & oodles of hot water plus, importantly, good double glazing, which meant the road noise that could be heard from downstairs didn’t keep us awake. The default in the lounge areas was to have both TVs on all the time but 2 large sitting areas ( with bar on tap) meant it was easy to sit relatively quietly and relax after a long drive. Breakfast was superb with huge choice & friendly service in an amazing dining room complete with armour !

The property of full of history and heritage and the owner has a wealth of knowledge to share. As other reviews have said this could be described as a quirky hotel. But it’s that what makes it an interesting place to stay rather than a run of the mill chain hotel. Some might say it’s old fashioned, but our room was spotless. It’s a fantastic location, just off the M6 so a great place for a stop over. It was a really warm welcome and we felt right at home and looked after. The continental Breakfast was very good and lots of choice. Overall excellent value for money and we would have no hesitation in staying again.

This is a very old building, with creaky stairs and artefacts all around. So don’t expect perfection. The house is dated but a joy to be in. Would have loved to have seen this building in its hey day. The room was clean, larger than expected and super comfortable. The shower was fab. The buffet breakfast was excellent. We were doing a one night stop and it was perfect. Wifi was great. I would book again. If you want modern perfection - don’t stay here, but if you appreciate these old buildings and the history they have to offer - it’s a fab place to stay.

Not the easiest to find but what an imposing building. In it's day it must have been a very grand house, which we all know takes a lot of looking after. The hall whilst has seen better days is a really friendly and pleasant place to stay. Don't get put off by the slight query style you will not regret booking a room here. Whilst it has to be said it's wedged between a major road and main line railway we had a peaceful sleep. The breakfast was a nice continental plus type and plentiful.
